Work on the 21st Street bridge over the Arkansas River will disrupt both drivers and pedestrians this week.

Starting Monday, city crews will begin removing old light poles from the bridge that they say haven’t worked in a long time. For drivers, westbound 21st Street will be down to one lane starting at Boulder Avenue and extending to Jackson Avenue. The exit loop ramp from 21st to Riverside will be closed at that time as well.

When crews begin removing the light poles on the south side of the bridge, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane.

The city says as crews work, the sidewalk that folks use to cross the river will be closed from 8 am to 5 pm every day until work is finished.

This project is expected to take about a week to complete.
