The City of Muskogee is preparing for the winter storm on Wednesday.
While the wind and cold have already moved in, the precipitation hasn’t, so crews are not officially hitting the roads yet in Muskogee since the weather won’t arrive until later in the morning.
Crews at the Muskogee salt yard do already have the plows and spreaders ready to go for use later in the day.
The city tells News On 6 that they have six people who will be working around the clock the next three days to keep the roads as safe as they can.
City leaders said they likely won’t pretreat due to the possibility of rain coming in first, but they will get crews on the road the second the winter weather arrives.
Also out working are the Muskogee County crews that consist of fifteen people who plan A salt sand mixture on the county roads ahead of the storm.
“Once the event gets here, our staff will have the ice routes they’ll be running. They’ll hit some of the more dangerous areas, first hills and curves, some of the more highly traveled intersections,” Ken Doke with Muskogee County said.
News On 6's Brooke Griffin will have more from Muskogee throughout the day as part of our winter storm team coverage.
