The Tulsa Library has launched a new app that will help kids grow their early reading skills.
The app can be accessed from anywhere at any time, all you need is a phone or tablet.
The Tulsa Library is bringing storytime to your pocket with the new Build a Reader app.
"It's bringing the library to the kids, it's bringing it to the parents, and making it front of mind that reading is really really important," said Laura Raphael.
Children's Services Coordinator Laura Raphael says the new app will have access to books in the library, educational videos, and activities for kids.
There's also a way for parents to monitor how much they are reading to their kids.
"Parents can actually track the reading they are doing for their kids because we know research shows the more you read to your child, the better they will be prepared to learn how to read later on," she said.
The app can now be downloaded in app stores on your phone or tablet, and it's free.
She says reading to your kids helps them in so many ways- like learning new words and it's also a bonding experience.
"Reading every day to your child is absolutely crucial and foundational for children's language and learning and literacy skills," she said.
Raphael says she hopes this encourages parents and kids to keep on reading.
She hopes this will also remind them that the library's doors are open and ready for them to visit.
"Our only desire is to help them, and to connect with them and their children and make them love reading," she said.
