The snow is melting what will hopefully be the last of winter! Employees at the Amish Cheese House spent the day celebrating. They had a "good riddance winter" party today!
"Honestly, most of my employees drive tractors to work! So, I wasn't too worried about them making it. So, we said, let's roll with it," said Wes Miller, owner of Amish Cheese House.
Amish Cheese House is an Oklahoma treasure, which started in 2000 by Wes Miller and his wife, Leah.
"We have been tremendously blessed through the years. We have had customers since the beginning," said Miller, "I really give credit to my staff. They are really good at serving people, they enjoy their jobs."
They wanted to give Oklahomans something they had growing up.
"My wife was raised Amish and I was raised Mennonite," said Miller.
The Amish Cheese House was born! Right next door is another Oklahoma staple.
"I am Nettie Ann from Nettie Ann's Bakery, and I am going on 20 years of business. I started my own business when I was 21 years old," said Nettie Plank, owner of Nettie Ann's Bakery.
Pies, cakes, fresh breads even frozen casseroles.
"Instinct told me we are going to be fine today, so we came in and baked like a normal Friday and we unlocked the doors. It hasn't been like a normal Friday, but it has been worth being open," said Plank.
Nettie is running the shop today with her daughter.
"We get to work together. I get to do stuff in the back while she takes care of customers in the front," said Plank.
If you're looking for homemade anything, these two shops have just about everything -- rain or shine, spring, or the last snow of winter.
"Just good home cooking. Fresh, unique things you can't find anywhere else," said Miller.
