The original "Pistol Pete" has been inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum's Hall of Westerners.
U.S. Deputy Marshal Frank Eaton was honored during a ceremony this weekend.
Eaton claimed to have served as a Deputy U.S. Marshal under Judge Isaac Parker in Fort Smith. He settled in Perkins after the land run in Oklahoma.
Eaton would later become a mascot for Oklahoma State University after being seen riding in an Armistice Day Parade in Stillwater in 1923, and would be the inspiration for 'Pistol Pete.'
Hollywood star Kurt Russell was one of the other inductees, going into the hall of great western performers.
