The Oklahoma Sooners are headed back to the College World Series after defeating Super Regionals host Virginia Tech 11-2 in Blacksburg.
The win secures a spot in Omaha for the Sooners for the first time since 2010. Oklahoma will to play former conference rival Texas A&M in the World Series.
Redshirt freshman pitcher Cade Horton shined in the Sooners' win, allowing only two hits over six innings with eight strikeouts.
Kendall Pettis, a sophomore outfielder, showed his athleticism with some highlight catches that gave the Sooners momentum to stop a Hokie comeback attempt. In the bottom of the fourth with the Sooners up just three runs, Virginia Tech hit one deep in to left field that rode the foul line as Pettis leaned over the fence and caught that ball while tipping over. He then hit a solo homer in the top of the sixth before making a diving catch to steal a base hit from the Hokies.
