Residents of Wynnewood are outraged and are calling for a police officer’s job after an alleged incident at an area store back in June.

One Wynnewood resident told News 9 she may have accidentally disposed of a fetus at the direction of a police officer.

This happened last month, and while the mayor would not comment on the case, citizens made it clear they want that officer gone.

“It’s concerning. Who wants a cop like that in town? I have three kids,” said one citizen.

Residents said they were appalled and fed up with an officer who recently responded to a call reporting a possible miscarriage at an area business.

“There was blood all over the toilet seat, a spot of blood on the floor, the trashcan was overflowing with bloody tissue,” said a witness who did not want to be identified.

She said she and her coworker decided to sift through the trash outside.

When they did, they found the scene to be even more horrifying than they expected.

“Found a bunch of blood clots in the tissue and the last one I opened appeared to be an umbilical cord, there’s no doubt in my mind what it was,” said the woman.

She said the officer who responded refused to investigate what the women believed they had stumbled across.

“He was like I don’t need to see it, so I just got upset and walked away,” said the woman.

She said the officer told them to dispose of what they had found.

His lack of action, according to the women, outraged the city’s police chief and citizens.

“A little bit of guilt set in on my part, thinking I could have done more, he assured me, you did the right thing, you did what you were told to do, and I still feel like I could have done more,” said the woman.

“There was a baby born here by whatever means we don’t really know, whatever age we don’t know, and their ultimate resting place was a landfill,” said Shannon Kile with Save Wynnewood.

The woman said because of the officer’s lack of action she and others are left wondering.

“Just the not knowing what happened, how far along it was, if this woman has a serious condition that caused her to lose the baby,” said the woman.

In Monday’s city council meeting there was a lot of tension that bubbled over throughout the night. Citizens expressed their disapproval with their city mayor and council members.

According to the city attorney, a statement will be released on the incident within 48 hours.
