Pathways and sidewalks in the Plaza District are undergoing renovations to make them more pedestrian-friendly.
The project aims to improve accessibility in the area for pedestrians.
Plaza District executive director Rachel Leonhart said the goal is to make the area more beautiful and safer.
"What's being repaired a lot is the curbs, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility, and improved walkways and crosswalks," Leonhart said. "That's what it is. It's a pedestrian district."
While expansion isn't currently planned, Leonhart said it's not out of the question.
"I think that expansion for the district can happen in the future," Leonhart said. "Right now, this is just focusing on making what we have better for folks."
Leonhart also said the nearly two-year project is on track to be completed by October.
