Tulsa’s McLain football team will travel to Wagoner for their game Friday, after a shooting last month outside McLain's stadium ended one student’s life.

The Wagoner football team usually eats dinner together at a church before each home game. But this Friday, they are serving dinner for McLain too, after the game.

The Wagoner Bulldogs are getting ready to play the McLain Titans for the first time in a few years.

"It's a big district game,” Dale Condict said. Condict is Wagoner’s head football coach. As he prepares for the game, he has more than game winning strategies on his mind.

"I also have my mind on Tulsa McLain,” he said. “My thoughts have been with them for a few weeks now."

Condict is also the district's Athletic Director. After a deadly shooting moments after a McLain home game last month, Condict said he talked with the TPS AD, and McLain's football coach about a plan.

Wagoner is giving McLain proceeds made from ticket sales at the gate, since this was scheduled to be a home game for McLain.

"We agreed that this would be a situation that we could all move forward with comfortably and they could also still recover some of the money they were gonna make that night. I think they'll still come out on the good side of that,” Condict said.

After the game, they will fire up the grill and have dinner together.

"Coweta Country Mart that's been willing to donate food and we sure appreciate that. Hamburgers, hot dogs, cookies, chips,” Condict said. “And we got a crew of our booster club people that are gonna prepare that and feed both teams after the game. And just celebrate a night of getting to play football.”

Football and fries make for a winning combination.

"Normally we don't feed the opposing team,” Condict said. “But we thought this was a unique situation. We wanted to make it as much a home game for them as we could."

Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
