Escaped Inmate Captured By Authorities Near McAlester

6 p.m. Update: Derik Taylor, the inmate that escaped from a McAlester corrections center on Saturday, has been found. The Oklahoma DOC said Taylor was apprehended near McAlester by facility staff and K-9 agents. Taylor is going to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary where he will face additional charges.

An inmate has escaped the Jackie Brannon Corrections Center Saturday in McAlester, according to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC).

Derik Taylor, 32, was unaccounted for at around 7:10 a.m. after he failed to report for kitchen duty, the DOC said.

Local police officers and area hospitals were notified of the inmate’s disappearance and began search efforts, according to the DOC.

Officials urge that anyone with information to contact the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
