The Homeless Alliance and the city of Oklahoma City are collaborating to survey the city's homeless population.

The survey is made up of questions that will help the city to determine what other resources are needed and how many people are living without shelter.

Last year's survey showed 471 people were living without shelter.

The count plan includes 19 teams which conduct the surveys at various shelters and homeless camps in the Oklahoma City area.

“Our unsheltered count was 471 and had housed 552, so why isn’t that number less than 0? Because everyday people are becoming homeless and everyday people are getting back into housing," Homeless Alliance executive director Dan Straughn said.

The numbers from the 2023 count survey will be released in June.
