If you’re looking for a new furry friend to add to the family, now may be the time.
The Oklahoma City Animal Welfare shelter kicked off their community adoption challenge Saturday with an ambitious goal in mind.
They want to see 200 dogs adopted by next Saturday, and they need the community's help to do it.
Adoptable dogs can be found on their Facebook page and dogs over 40 pounds will have their adoption fee waived.
The shelter says the challenge is their way to combat some recent overcrowding and get those pups into the loving homes they deserve instead of resorting to euthanasia.
"We just thought the better thing would be to reach out to the community and see if we could get their support to help us get these dogs into homes," said Tina Rimmer with the OKC Animal Welfare shelter. "We have a lot of dogs here that just need to be out of the shelter and in a home so they can have a family to take care of them."
The challenge lasts until next Saturday and anyone who adopts a dog will be entered into a drawing to win some goodies for their new pet.
