Emergency crews had to close several roads to keep people safe. This caused a lot of stress and frustration for people trying to get home. Sheriff’s deputies had no choice.
The intersection at Coltrane Road and Simmons Road ignited a frustrating situation for drivers and sheriff’s deputies. Drivers were trying to get home as smoke haunted the horizon where many of these people lived.
From the intersection, people couldn’t see the homes that would soon be a thing of the past.
“My kids are at home. I’m trying to get there,” one woman said.
Another woman is trying to get to her home to save some horses.
Officers turned many people away to protect them – even though these people didn’t see it that way.
“They need to be reported they’re not doing their job properly,” said a frustrated driver. "My mom lives down there.”
People tried to get home to save what they can. The Red Cross stopped here to take people’s names. Stress spread like the Logan County fire.
Crews closed the road because no property is worth someone’s life. People have to wait until morning to find out what is left.
