Voters across the state headed to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots in several local elections.

Voters in Claremore rejected a one-penny sales tax increase. City leaders say the money would have been used for the police and fire departments. If it had passed, money from the general fund that currently pays for public safety would have been used for other things like infrastructure.

A $24-million bond in Stigler for a new elementary school and Ag building failed again. Bond issues in Oklahoma need 60% to pass, but it only got 56%.

Votes in Claremore approved a plan to dissolve the city's hospital sale trust fund. The plan allows the city to move money from the hospital trust to something that has a better interest rate return.

Voters in Jay approved an 8-cent tax for people staying at hotels or Air BNBs. The mayor says the revenue will be used to improve infrastructure.
