Two people are dead after police said a man walked into a public library and shot a random man in the back of the head, then went to a nearby QuikTrip and shot a second, random victim in the back of the head.
The suspect has been identified by police as 61-year-old Carlton Gilford.
This all happened around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Tulsa Police said.
Police said when they got to the QuikTrip at Pine and Peoria, the shooter was just standing outside, then admitted to police he'd shot two people.
Meagan Carpenter said she was inside the QuikTrip at the time of the shooting.
"Didn't hear anything else, any screaming or nothing, and then we heard about three or four more shots, and then everyone kind of took off running," she said.
Police said the shooter not only shot a man in the back of the head, but shot the victim again after he fell to the ground. Police said he fired at least one more shot before leaving.
Officers found the man outside and took him into custody.
"Suspect came in, fired multiple rounds, at some point, either ran out of ammunition, or the gun stopped working, and our suspect was able to exit the gas station and leave," said Officer Danny Bean.
Before that, police said the shooter went into the Rudisill Regional Library at 1520 N. Hartford and walked up behind a man who was sitting at a desk, and shot him in the back of the head.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died a few hours later, police said.
"Right now it looks like its totally random, very terrible incident, very unfortunate," Bean said.
Police said the shooter was injured from what looks like a self-inflicted gunshot wound but will be taken to the jail after getting treated.

Carpenter said it was a crazy situation. "I just ran to my car and took off," she said.
Police have not released the names of the victims.
Below is a statement from QuikTrip:
“QuikTrip’s top priority is always the safety of our employees and customers – a responsibility we take very seriously. We are saddened by the tragic event that took place this morning and we are working closely with Tulsa Police and will continue to assist with their ongoing investigation."
