If voters approve the next "Improve Our Tulsa" package in August, a citizens committee will immediately start tracking the projects to make sure they’re completed.
“We'll start to see which projects will get funding, when, and we will follow those projects through from inception to completion,” said Ashley Webb, the Chair of Tulsa’s Sales Tax Oversight Committee.
It’s the job of the committee, working as volunteers, to ensure voters get what they approved, within budget and on time.
Sometimes projects languish and the Committee is charged with raising alarms with elected leaders to make sure they’re aware.
Tulsa City leaders are out explaining the next sales tax and bond package, estimated at $772 million.
The next public meeting to explain it will be May 1, at the Greenwood Cultural Center, at 6 pm.
The plan is a draft, not final, according to the Streets and Stormwater Director, Terry Ball. “The councilors are usually your proponent for your area of town and make sure they're aware of what you do or don't want in the package, and just this is the time when citizens can have their word heard by elected officials and determine what projects get picked."
The vote will be to extend the package, which will keep sales tax at the current rate. Click here for more information.
