A Westville woman is devastated after her daughter and three grandkids were among the seven victims found dead in a field outside a home in Henryetta.
Janette Mayo said her daughter Holly McFadden was a kind person, and always willing to give second chances.
Holly was married to the suspect in this case, Jesse McFadden.
Mayo said Holly believed McFadden deserved a second chance, even though many of Holly's family members disagreed.
Mayo said she is beyond heartbroken and doesn’t know what to do next.
“You want to wake up and it’s not really happening,” said Mayo. “And when I wake up, it’s there. And there’s nothing I can do. I can’t do anything. I have to bury my baby and her children. And it’s the most gut-wrenching feeling in the world.”
She said her daughter knew Jesse McFadden was a registered sex offender, but she said Holly was lied to about what really happened.
Mayo said even from the start, she always had a bad feeling about him.
“He was very quiet, very subdued, very easy going, stayed away from the family 90 percent of the time, but if it was a birthday party or anything, he was right there,” said Mayo. “Around children, where he should have never have been.”
She said since she found out her daughter and three grandchildren were dead, she can’t stop thinking about the futures they had in front of them.
“I don’t know how to say it. I can’t sleep,” said Mayo. “Because I close my eyes and I see my daughter and my grand babies, and all I can hear is them screaming, ‘Grandma, Grandma, Grandma,’” said Mayo. “That’s what I woke up to this morning.”
She said she hopes no family has to go through what she is going through.
She said she wants to share the stories of the family members she loved so much, to maybe save the life of someone else.
“Start by doing a background investigation on whomever you’re getting with,” said Mayo. “Honestly, in today’s society, that’s going to have to be a necessary thing to do. You don’t know who they are. You don’t know if they’re lying. Protect yourself, protect your children. They are the most precious thing in the world, and that was taken from me.”
At this point, Mayo said she just wants answers about what really happened and why.
