Weekend Construction Closing Eastbound I-40 In OKC Metro

Construction will cause traffic along Interstate 40 in the eastern part of the Oklahoma City metro will come to a halt starting Friday.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation released the following list of closures:

1. Westbound I-40 will be closed between Choctaw Road and Hudiburg Drive. Motorists may enter westbound I-40 starting at Sooner Road.
2. Eastbound I-40 will be closed between Shields Boulevard and Anderson Road. Motorists may enter eastbound I-40 from Anderson Road.
3. Detour for both eastbound and westbound I-40 will be I-240.
4. Southbound I-235 will be narrowed to two lanes, and the ramp to eastbound I-40 will be closed.
5. The right lane of southbound I-35 will be closed at Northeast 10th Street. Traffic must take westbound I-40/southbound I-35.
6. Westbound I-40 ramps from Anderson Road, Douglas Boulevard, Industrial Boulevard, Town Center Drive, Air Depot Boulevard and Hudiburg Drive will be closed.
7. Eastbound I-40 ramps from Scott St., Sunnylane Road, Southeast 15th Street, Sooner Road, Air Depot Boulevard, Town Center Drive and from Industrial Boulevard, which is permanently closed.

ODOT said it plans to have everything back open Monday morning, and that his is all part of the project to widen and improve the interstate.
