For $50 you could own a Harley Davidson motorcycle and support a good cause.
“Whatever we can do to help our local community and law enforcement and everything like that everybody should do that,” said Moore businessman Frank Randle.
Randle has lived in Moore pretty much his entire life and graduated from Moore high school. He was hoping to enjoy some recreational time with his wife, so they bought a couple of Harley Davidson motorcycles.
“Business took over and we didn’t have the time to enjoy them, so we just stored them,” said Randle.
After sitting in storage for years the couple decided to sell them.
“They mentioned they were going to sell some motorcycles, and I said donate them to Crimestoppers, and the next phone call I got, you’ve got two Harley Davidson motorcycles,” said Steve Shawn, with Moore Crimestoppers.
The motorcycles are practically still brand new.
“I think the screaming eagle has got like eleven hundred miles on it, and then her bike has got less than a thousand on it,” said Randle.
Raffle tickets for the bikes are only $50.
“The raffle is up and running right now, you can find the link at the Moore Police Department Facebook page,” said Shawn.
You can also get tickets at Fort Thunder Harley Davidson in Moore where the bikes are being displayed.
“There are only 220 tickets for each bike, which makes it an amazing chance of winning a bike,” said Shawn.
The money raised will go to the Moore police department’s Crimestoppers unit, to use for reward money for crime reports as well as their hometown hero’s awards banquet.
“We pay for awards, when they go above and beyond the call of duty,” said Jennifer Seals with Crimestoppers.
“As a police officer on the street, it’s a great feeling to know that the businesses and citizens of Moore are behind our efforts to keep our city safe,” said Sgt. Matt Milton with the Moore Police Department.
For Randle it feels good to give back to the police officers that do so much.
“We go to bed at night, and we can sleep, put our heads down and not worry about much of anything because we’ve got so many of them out there supporting us,” said Randle.
As much as Randle appreciates the Moore Police Department, after seeing the bikes all cleaned up, did he have second thoughts?
“I rode it down the street and right back and parked it and thought, this is tough,” said Randle.
The raffle ends at the end of September but with limited tickets, time is of the essence. Click here to buy raffle tickets.
