Celebrate OKCFD 10th Annual Project Life 5K

The News 9 team was joined by race commentator, Mark Bravo to learn more about the Oklahoma City Fire Departments 10th annual Project Life 5k.

The event allows OKCFD to raise funds for smoke alarms and other life saving devices provided to Oklahoma City residents free of charge.

The 1-mile run/walk is popular with families, and participants will also receive a finisher medal.

The race will kick off with a demonstration from the Oklahoma City Fire Department Honor Guard and will also feature music, food, awards, drawings for fun prizes, and photo opportunities with Oklahoma City Fire trucks.

The event aims to bring community members together to participate in a wellness initiative that is fun for everyone.

"It just shows the wellness initiative is doing much better in Oklahoma than they are getting credit for," said Mark Bravo.

The race will be at the East Warf at Lake Hefner Saturday, August 19.
