Oklahomans can expect mild temperatures and minimal travel disruptions as Christmas approaches, according to meteorologist Andrew Adams.

However, rain and storm chances will increase early in the week before giving way to a sunny and dry Christmas Day.

What to Expect for the Week Leading to Christmas:

Monday:

  1. Morning: Increasing clouds with drizzle and spotty showers possible.
  2. Afternoon: Rain chances increase as moisture moves in from the south.
  3. Highs: 50s across much of Oklahoma.
  4. Evening: Storm chances develop, with heavier rain expected, particularly in eastern Oklahoma.

Tuesday (Christmas Eve):

  1. Morning: Rain and storm chances continue, especially in eastern Oklahoma, before moving eastward by late morning.
  2. Afternoon: Drying out with clearing skies.
  3. Highs: Around 53°F in central Oklahoma.

Wednesday (Christmas Day):

  1. Weather: Sunny, dry, and mild with highs near 54°F.
  2. Travel Impact: No major weather disruptions expected across Oklahoma or the U.S.

Saturday marks the official start of winter, and while temperatures will dip slightly to the 40s, it’s shaping up to be a dry day.

If you’re planning a weekend getaway or just a stroll to admire Christmas lights, the weather should cooperate.

  1. Monday morning looks foggy in spots with light rain and drizzle developing.
  2. Light rain is possible off and on Monday, with higher rain chances Monday night into Tuesday morning.
