It’s a big car show this weekend at Heritage Plaza on Air Depot, in Midwest city. But this isn’t just about showing off cool cars, this is about supporting the community.
“The general premise of being a part of the old school cruisers is, your car has to be at least thirty years old,” said Pastor Mike, president of the old-school cruisers.
Established in 1995 by a group of friends with a love for old-school cars, the club now consists of over twenty members and close to forty-five cars.
“Our motto for the old school cruisers is cruising for a cause,” said Pastor Mike.
It’s not uncommon to see these guys at events all over the city.
“We visit a lot of nursing homes, Christmas banquets, anything we can do in the community to help facilitate,” said Pastor Mike.
This Saturday in the parking lot of Heritage Plaza in Midwest City, there will be lots of cars and more.
“Motorcycles, three wheelers, hotrods, lowriders,” said Pastor Mike.
About one hundred fifty vehicles, plus vendors, food trucks, dance troops, and a live DJ.
“Registration is twenty dollars, and we are asking all the registrants to bring a case or cases of bottled water when they come,” said Pastor Mike.
“Something as simple as water is a huge deal for us,” said Major David Richardson with the Midwest city Fire Department.
That water will go to the Midwest City fire department.
“When we get a big donation of pallets upon pallets of water from an event like this, we are absolutely super appreciative of it,” said Major Richardson.
They will also be collecting new or slightly used shoes for the Homeless Alliance.
“Athletic shoes, tennis shoes, boots, no sandals,” said Pastor Mike.
Anyone can contribute to the water and food donations, but everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the fun.
“As nice as our cars are, it doesn’t stop with our cars, our cars are here for a purpose, and that’s to benefit other people,” said Pastor Mike.
Participants can register on Saturday morning from 9 am to 11 am. The car show starts at 11. For more information visit Their Facebook page @old school cruisers Inc.
