Downtown Edmond welcomed a new art piece this weekend, celebrating the history of Edwards Street.
It was the first African-American-owned property in Edmond, opening back in 1891.
Former Mayor Randel Shadid says it's an important addition.
"We have a lot of great public art in Edmond but this piece is important because it commemorates a part of Edmond's history in the late 1800s and early 1900s with the African community that nobody in this town really knows anything about," Shadid said.
The piece is called "Bridge of Brotherhood" and it's at the corner of Edwards and Broadway.
