A new video released by the Oklahoma City Fire Department shows the inside perspective of its firefighters as they attacked a 3-alarm fire at an apartment complex near Pennsylvania Avenue and 122 Street in Northwest Oklahoma City on Oct. 20.
Through an open records request, the department provided several angles from its helmet-mounted cameras worn by firefighters plus additional video from its thermal-imaging drones.
The video shows the moments from when firefighters first entered the structure, to the moment where they briefly backed out because of the out-of-control flames.
It also captured the moment firefighters skillfully rescued two people from the building and navigated one of those people down a ladder. Both those people were found in critical condition and died in the following days. Their identities have not been released.
Fire investigators are still looking into the cause. But, Oklahoma City police have stated that "foul play" is not suspected.
Two people are now dead after being pulled from an apartment fire Friday, according to the Oklahoma City Fire Department.
