A new pop-up shop in Tulsa featuring Native American artwork and clothing is open just as holiday shopping begins. The boutique showcases work from all 39 tribal nations in Oklahoma.

"We really invite everybody to come down and see what we're about and who we are,” Julie O’Keefe said.

From jewelry and dresses to a T-shirt with the store's name on it and spa products, there's a little bit of everything inside the boutique. It's called "Indigichic."

Artists like Dr. Jessica Harjo are selling their work here.

"This is my kind of iconic scissortail design. I've made wrapping paper out of this, skirts, tees, just different things,” Dr. Harjo said.

Veronica Pipestem usually only sells her earrings online. Now, people can shop for them in person for the first time, and she can expose her work to more people.

"We know what we can sell to everyone and what needs to be sold within and stay within our communities,” Pipestem said. “And so anything that is on sale here and is available here is for everyone to wear."

The pop-up boutique is just around the corner from Southwest Trading Company at 11 and Peoria. The shop will be open until January 13, with new items like coffee beans available in a couple of weeks.

The shop features items with a wide price range, from a few dollars, to luxury goods like this belt made from bison hide.

"This is a $500 belt. And I call it the Louis Vuitton of Indigichic,” O’Keefe said.

O'Keefe is one of the five owners of the shop, which will showcase work from all 39 tribal nations in Oklahoma. The other four owners are Dr. Harjo, Alex Ponca-Stock, Wilson Pipestem, and his sister Veronica.

"We have luxury goods. That are Native made. We are in the game. And we want people to really see that and come down and express themselves with it, enjoy it, take a look, wear it, and that's really what we're showcasing here,” O’Keefe said.

While the shop isn't open for long, its owners hope to make a lasting impact.
