Tulsa Police are looking for two men they say first tried stealing a woman's trailer, then one of the men took off in the victim's SUV with her five children inside.

Police say it started when the victim saw two men on surveillance video trying to steal a trailer from her family's business, so she went and confronted the thieves.

Police say when the victim confronted the thieves near her business, there was an altercation, then one of the men ran away and the other jumped into the victim's SUV with her kids still inside and drove off.

Tulsa Police say the victim called 911 Sunday night saying a man drove off in her car with her five children still inside.

The children ranged in age from one to 16 years old.

Police say the 16-year-old girl started hitting the man while he was driving and eventually he pulled over and the teen was able to get two of the kids out of the car.

Officers say the man took off again and the 16-year-old was thrown to the ground.

"I think she did a great job. I'm sure she was terrified with what was going on and was trying to help her family and help her siblings. We always talk about that, intervening ourselves, this is a situation where I think everybody would have did what she did," said Tulsa Police Officer Danny Bean.

Police say the man stopped the car again down the road and ran, leaving the other two kids in the car.

Police say it all started with two men were seen on surveillance video trying to steal a trailer from the victim's family business.

"Multiple family members followed this truck and got it stopped, it had the trailer on it. Some confrontation happened, and during that confrontation one of the suspects got inside that 4-runner and drove off.," Officer Bean said.

Officers locked down the area and used a K9 but didn't find either man.

Police say they are glad everyone is okay, but they encourage people to call 911 first.

"It's probably wise, a wise situation to call right away if you see someone taking something from your property. You get us there a little quicker, maybe we get there first, who knows."
