Bartlesville's City Council Honored two police officers and a firefighter with life-saving commendations.

The police chief says on November 30th, Lieutenant Chris Neal was on his way to work when the driver of a pickup veered off the road, went through some soccer fields, and ended up in a pond. Neal reported the incident and Fire Captain Chris Buchanan and Police Sergeant Steve Johnson arrived on the scene.

They used a baton to break the driver's window, and all three of them pulled the driver from the car.

"Wasn't deep water - but it was in a position that if he would have exited that vehicle or other medical issues would have continued to occur his life could have been lost," said Bartlesville Police Chief Kevin Ickleberry

Bartlesville's Police Chief and Deputy Fire Chief presented the awards Tuesday night to Neal and Buchanan. Sergeant Johnson is on vacation and wasn't able to attend.
