A Friday house fire in Ramona resulted in the deaths of two adults and a child, authorities say.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) determined an electrical issue caused the accidental fire, possibly from a lamp. Another child was also injured in the fire, their condition is unknown at this time.

Officials said the fire was called in between 4 and 5 a.m. on Keeler Street in Ramona. An ATF rep confirmed the family is of Native American heritage.

Washington County Fire Chief Kary Cox said five fire departments responded to the call with 50 people fighting the flames. Chief Cox said it took them nearly three hours to control the fire. He said the house was on a dead-end street and the nearest fire hydrant was several blocks away.

“With the temperatures this morning, a lot of difficulty with water supply, with trucks freezing, the ice on the scene so it made it pretty difficult for firefighters from the very beginning this morning,” said Cox.

Firefighters also rescued a therapy dog at the scene. Ed Owens lives nearby and says his dogs woke him up around 5 a.m. and he looked outside and saw fire crews lining his street.

"It hits home. I've had a loss of life recently and if there's a loss of life down there, it is just terrible. It is terrible for everyone,” said Owens.

ATF agents said two adults and a 6-year-old child died in the fire, and three others were injured including another young child. Firefighters say a therapy dog was also rescued.

"It is a pretty good little neighborhood here as far as houses you see. We are pretty close. We keep in contact. Help each other out,” said Owens. “I know the family's name and I don't really know them but it's terrible."

An online fundraiser has been set up to help the family. Click here to donate.
