Description
Sassy Mama's grinder hoagie sandwich is a delicious combination of a sandwich and a salad.
Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 teaspoon garlic paste
- ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon sun dried tomatoes
- ½ teaspoon red chili flakes
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ cup sliced pepperoncini peppers
- ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 16 ounce Italian loaf of bread
- ½ pound thinly sliced provolone cheese
- ½ pound thinly sliced ham
- ¼ pound thinly sliced pepperoni
- ¼ pound thinly sliced turkey
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Bread and meat: Cut hoagie loaf in half length wise without cutting all the way through. Place slices of provolone cheese over the bottom of one side and then layer on the different meats.
- Toast: Place in the oven and allow the meat and cheese to melt and the bread to get toasty.
- Prepare Salad: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, fresh cracked pepper, red wine vinegar, minced, oregano, garlic, banana peppers, and sun-dried tomatoes. Set aside.
- Prepare Salad: In a large bowl, add the shredded iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced red onion and toss with the dressing.
- Prepare Sandwich: Remove the bread from the oven. Add slices of fresh tomato over the top of the meat and then add heaping spoonfuls of salad over the tomatoes and fold sandwich together and cut into slices.
