The first round of playoffs is underway for the Oklahoma City Thunder, but before tip-off fans geared up for the home game at Scissortail Park.

“We back in the playoffs baby, let’s go!” Thunder fan Corey Sutter exclaimed at the first Thunder Up in the Park Event ahead of the first home playoff game.

The game has the entire city buzzing with excitement. It’s been 6 years since the team hosted a playoff game on their home court.

“Everybody’s been waiting for this,” Sutter said. “Saying go Thunder!”

He says Thunder Up in the Park was a beautiful sight.

“It’s amazing, like everybody is walking around with a smile on their face, just making noise, screaming, yelling 'Go Thunder!'”

Thunder Up in the Park is a pre-game event for any and all Thunder fans to build excitement before tip-off.

“The support is big whether you’re in the arena or here in the park,” Michelle Matthews, Director of Fan Development and Retail for the OKC Thunder, said.

She says fan support doesn't go unnoticed.

“Our players feed off that energy,” she said. “It makes them go on the court and play just a little bit harder for everyone who’s repping the 405.”

Thunder fans big and small, and loud and proud, filled Scissortail Park to kick off game one of the first round, the first of two home games this week.

“We know we have the best fans in the NBA but they are showing up today and showing us why they got that title,” Matthews said.

As for Corey, he's got his team no matter what.

“I want to say we’re going to win a championship,” he said. “But we’re a young team. We made it to the playoffs, it’s a start. Gotta crawl before you can walk.”

no matter what.

Scissortail Park will host Thunder Up in the Park before each home playoff game and it's clear Thunder fans will be with them every step of the way.
