Following a weekend tornado outbreak, the Oklahoma County Assessor's Office is studying damage in an area ranging from Midwest City to Choctaw.
Homes in the area ranged from not impacted at all, to at least one which had its roof lifted off its foundation. Another home lost a wall on the front side.
"The roof was removed possibly from the foundation, with all the brick missing, the garage damage, we're probably going to go 100 percent on that," said Mike Slepko, who has been with the office for 19 years.
Homeowners affected might have their property value adjusted, which could result in a reduction in taxes as they recover, repair, and rebuild.
"When the value of the property is removed—the property owners will have reduced property taxes to pay—those lost property taxes will have to be made up somehow and the legislature will no doubt be asked to help," Oklahoma County Assessor Larry Stein said in a statement.
Stein's office has also offered assistance to Murray County.
