Republican Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance will be in Oklahoma City Friday, sources confirmed to News 9.

One source with knowledge of the event said Oklahoma U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin is bringing Vance to the state for a fundraiser. The private fundraiser is a group effort amongst several prominent Oklahomans.

“This will be a private event at a private house,” Mullin told Fox Radio on July 17. “We are just doing a fundraiser for the vice president nominee JD who I consider a friend.”

The event hosted by Oklahoma City banker Mark Davenport will feature Vance, Mullin, Gov. Kevin Stitt, and Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond.

Mullin told Fox Radio, the event was originally scheduled for two weeks ago.

“They were going to announce it before the convention, but after the debate, a lot of things changed and of course, a lot of things change after the assassination attempt,” Mullin said.

“I love him,” Former Oklahoma GOP Chairwoman Pam Pollard said. “I didn’t know a whole lot about him, but I heard about him and I’d read about him. Every time I’ve seen him and heard him speak, I thought he was different.”

Oklahoma Republicans are excited about the V.P. hopeful’s visit to the Sooner State.

“It’s huge, it’s huge,” Pollard said. “I know that he’s coming because people want to meet him, want to get to know him.”

“Yes it’s a fundraiser to help the president, but he’s trying to bring more and more people to invest, and by invest, it’s not always by dollars. Some of the investment is by excitement by spreading the word reaching out to those maybe in doubt don’t know him that well,” Pollard said.

A source tells News 9 that tickets for the private event are sold out. They started at $5,000 apiece. Attendees like former U.N. Ambassador Kelly Craft and oil giants Harold Hamm and Larry Nichols each donated between $50,000 and $100,000 to be on the host committee, which includes a roundtable discussion and photo opportunity.
