Oklahoma donors raised more than $2 million for Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance at an Oklahoma City private luncheon, according to Gov. Kevin Stitt.
“It was great,” Stitt said. “Having the vice-presidential candidate here in Oklahoma is just a testament to our state. So we're really, really excited. It ended up being the number one fundraiser that we've ever had.”
Tickets to the Gaillardia luncheon started at $5,000, a photo cost an additional $10,000, with top tickets going up to $100,000
Vance touched down at Will Rogers World Airport just before 12:30 Friday afternoon before the motorcade made the 20-mile drive to the Gaillardia home of OKC Bank Executive Mark Davenport.
Top donors on the host committee included oil giants Harold Hamm, Larry Nichols, and Joe Craft.
Top Oklahoma Republicans were also on hand at the luncheon, including Gov. Kevin Stitt, Attorney General Gentner Drummond, and U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin.
“JD did a really good job laying out the differences of four years under President Trump and four years underneath President Biden,” Mullin said. “You've never had this in history, right? Where you have a record of two presidents and the years they served.”
The Trump, Vance campaign Boeing 737 departed from Oklahoma around 3:30 Friday afternoon. According to CBS News, he will head to Minneapolis tomorrow for a campaign reception.
