An expo designed to allow Oklahoma hunters the opportunity to learn hands-on skills from experts is scheduled to happen in August in Midwest City.
Rick Nolan, president of Oklahoma Hunters & Anglers, is one of the organizers behind the Oklahoma Deer Conference and Expo on Aug. 17, and said there will be several topics discussed at the conference.
"There's going to be 19 different topics, scattered out over 25 different breakout sessions," Nolan said. "They'll be able to come and listen to, and speak to, subject matter experts. Different topics from everything from biology 101 to how to skin a deer."
Jeff Danker, the owner and manager of BuckVentures Outdoors and a presenter at the conference, said he is ready to teach people who are willing to learn.
Someone showed me how to hunt, but I feel like there's so many people that don't have that," Danker said. "That's what we want to, we're going to teach how to hunt on a budget. We think it's very important to get people in the outdoors."
For those who are interested in coming but unsure of what to expect, Danker said to expect to be welcomed.
"You're gonna be part of a family, you don't have to come in and be nervous," Danker said. "You're gonna come in, we're going to give stuff away, we're going to greet you."
