Elk City Police Shoot, Kill Man Armed With Knife; OSBI Investigating

The OSBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving Elk City Police that left a 29-year-old man dead on Friday.

The OSBI said Jerry Garcia was brandishing a knife and ignoring commands, which led to an officer-involved shooting.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene near East Highway 66 and North County Road 2025 in Elk City, authorities say.

The OSBI said officers responded to the scene around 7 p.m. for the disturbance call and encountered Garcia.

Elk City Police requested the OSBI's assistance in the investigation.
