Sahoma Lanes Bowling Alley has been around since 1960. Tammie Pollard says, because it was founded by her father, Guy Bolin, she knows this place like the back of her hand.

“When I was 16, I said ‘I don’t want to work here anymore, I don’t want to work for my parents,’ cause I’d get a spanking and everyone else wouldn’t get in trouble,” she said.

After her father, many family members have since taken over as owner.

“In ‘99, my brother purchased it from him and ran it until just last month,” she said.

Now, it’s her turn.

Pollard said she basically grew up here at Sahoma Lanes and says that family feel is something she wants to continue under her ownership.

“We thrive on being a family-oriented business and very customer-related and we know our customers just like our family,” Pollard said.

A family that David Segraves has been a part of for 8 years.

“Every bowler is like a brother or sister to you,” he said.

He said, with Pollard, the business is in excellent hands.

“She works tirelessly at making this the place to be,” he said.

Segraves said Pollard and her family cater well to the senior bowlers.

“They treat us like we’re royalty,” he said.

And if the seniors are royalty, 95 year old Mary Almon is the queen.

She's been bowling at Sahoma Lanes for 36 years. She even has her own parking space.

“It says reserved for Mary Almon Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,” she said.

Proof of just how much the family cares.

“They take good care of all of us,” said Almon.

And as they look to the future, Pollard said that will always be the case.

“Not much has changed and we don’t plan on changing much,” she said.
