The Cherokee Nation broke ground Tuesday on a school to help revitalize the Cherokee language.
The Immersion Middle School will teach students in fourth through eighth grades, all subjects, using only the Cherokee language.
The Cherokee Nation estimates it loses about 75 fluent Cherokee speakers every year.
They hope to have that many new, fluent speakers every year by 2032.
The middle school should be finished in the Spring of 2026.
