An energy company in Tulsa is planning for a big expansion.
There's a lot to cheer for inside the Hilti Campus. Crusoe Energy Systems is making a $10 million investment into its Tulsa facility, which they say will add hundreds of new jobs.
"This facility is going to be more than doubling our capacity to manufacture those components, which we'll then use in our own data centers as we build out a growing portfolio," said company president Cully Cavness.
Cavness says the company has already called Tulsa home for three years. This expansion will focus on manufacturing for modern data centers.
"Right now, if you were to go out in the market and try to secure a switch gear from a third-party manufacturer, it could take as much as 80-plus weeks to get that component, which could be the driving factor of the schedule delivering the data center," he said.
Tulsa Regional Chamber president Mike Neal says it's a big move for Tulsa and will offer jobs of the future.
"A very innovative company with phenomenal leadership,” he said. “We cannot think of a better new type of company to attract to our city."
Neal says the chamber works to bring companies like Crusoe to town because they complement Tulsa's manufacturing workforce.
"The skillsets they've learned over the years in those industries are very transferrable to the newer advanced manufacturing jobs of today," he said.
Cavness says the incoming jobs include positions in management and safety. He agrees that Tulsa's workforce is cut out for this expansion.
"There's a really deep expertise and heritage in manufacturing here, so the talent pool that we can recruit from is already existing," he said.
Crusoe says it plans to work with Tulsa Tech to build a manufacturing partnership.
A hundred new jobs are expected to be posted by the end of this year.
