The Langston University community is mourning the death of assistant football coach Darryl Mason after his sudden passing on Saturday.
According to the university, Mason had a medical emergency during football practice and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
However, to those who knew him, Mason was not just a coach. He was a father, a mentor, and even a friend, and his former players say Mason will be dearly missed, but it's his words of encouragement will always live on.
The university said beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, the institution will be offering counseling services to students, which will be held on the second floor of the Student Success Center.
Additionally, there will also be a therapy dog session available in the student union from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
University officials also said a memorial to honor Mason's memory is expected to be coming to the campus soon.
