The Cowboys maintained control throughout their 44-20 victory over South Dakota State on Saturday, with senior safety Trey Rucker playing a key role. Rucker's performance earned him the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Cowboys' opening win was notably clean, with just one penalty and efficient offensive play. Quarterback Alan Bowman performed well, executing his role effectively by distributing the ball as planned.
He demonstrated composure in the pocket, making successful throws after receiving strong protection. His familiarity with the system and offseason preparation contributed to his solid performance.
Despite the potential challenges of integrating new helmet communication and sideline tablets, Bowman and his teammates navigated these smoothly. The sideline tablets initially feared to be distractions, were used appropriately by players to review game plays rather than non-football content.
Looking ahead, OSU will face Arkansas, featuring a mobile quarterback in Taylor Green, a 6'6" Boise State transfer, and strong offensive and defensive lines. This will mark the first meeting between the Cowboys and Razorbacks in 44 years.
