A family's Labor Day took a sad turn when two brothers riding a motorcycle crashed and both died.

Tulsa Police say they do believe speed might've played a factor in this wreck but they say alcohol did not.

Police say 25-year-old Eliazar Vallalva Jr. and his 20-year-old brother, Erik were riding a motorcycle when they crashed with a car.

“The car was turning around in like a private drive, saw the motorcycle coming, so he stopped before he pulled out into the roadway,” said Officer Sean Terrell.

Police believe the motorcycle driver thought the car was going to pull out, panicked, then lost control and slid off the road into the car.

“There’s a single skid mark from the motorcycle that starts on the edge of the roadway, goes off the roadway into the gravel driveway, leading right up to the point of impact,” said Officer Terrell.

Police say the driver of the car didn't seem to be under the influence and wasn't hurt. Officer Terrell says this is the third motorcycle fatality TPD has responded to within the last several weeks.

“It's becoming more and more common, we hate it,” he said.

But he hopes the wrecks send a clear message to everyone on the road and encourages riders to wear their helmets, since in Monday night's crash, the older brother wasn't wearing one.

Officer Terrell tells drivers to look out for motorcycles and tells motorcyclists to drive safely.

TPD puts on a free motorcycle safety class and their last one for the year is September 14th.

Tulsa police released new details about a motorcycle crash that killed two men on Monday.

The motorcycle driver, 25-year-old Eliazar Villalva Jr., and his passenger, 20-year-old Erik Villalva, died in the crash near 2600 S. 145th East Ave., according to Tulsa Police.

Officers responded to the scene around 8:15 p.m., where a motorcycle had crashed into a vehicle, police said.

Investigators determined that Villalva Jr. was speeding northbound on 145th East Ave. when he saw a vehicle preparing to enter the roadway from a driveway. Villalva Jr. applied the brakes, which locked the back wheel and caused him to lose control of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle overturned, slid off the road, and hit the side of the vehicle in the driveway, according to police. The impact from the crash caused the car to slide several feet.

The driver of the vehicle was not seriously injured, police said.
