The Tulsa Police Foundation has donated 10 new ballistic shields to the Tulsa Police Department.
The shields can withstand high-power rounds from rifles.
TPD realized they needed more advanced shields during the mass shooting at Saint Francis.
Chief Dennis Larsen says the shields will help officers safely rescue citizens from gunfire.
"If we have a citizen who's down but there is somebody that has them in the field of fire, we will step between the suspect shooting and the person down to rescue that person off the ground using the shields you saw today," said Larsen.
Tulsa Police say with this donation, they now have 13 of the higher-powered shields.
