The unbeaten Cowboys welcome the preseason favorites to win the Big 12, Utah, to Stillwater on Saturday.
Part of sustaining success as a coach is learning how to solve problems, and that was uniquely on display by Mike Gundy Monday afternoon, who says college coaches and the media can't get along.
Before breaking down the Cowboys' Big 12 opener with Utah, Gundy and some reporters worked together to shut down a drink refrigerator with a bad compressor.
As for the Utes, expect more of the same when it comes to defending the run.
"They stop the run—that’s what they do at a very high percentage, 90% plus. They have an extra guy in the box all the time, and they play a high free safety about 16 yards back," Head coach Mike Gundy said.
Through three games, Ollie Gordon has just under 200 yards, and the Cowboys rank 105th in the nation in rushing offense.
However, Gundy isn’t too concerned.
“We ran the ball well Saturday when we had an equal number or a half-man disadvantage. We didn’t run the ball well when they had one or two extra people there.”
Of course, the Cowboys have a counter, as evidenced from Saturday with their success through the air, and they’ll likely need that to continue to take an early advantage in the conference race.
