Tulsa Police arrested a convicted felon who is accused of flashing a gun while trying to shoplift two cases of Mountain Dew from Walmart.
Officers said Nathan Gabbert went through the store's self-checkout near Admiral and Memorial but did not pay for the drinks.
After security stopped him and asked him to pay, he went back inside, acted like he was going to pay, then allegedly flashed a pistol.
Security took him into custody outside. Tulsa Police said having on-site security helps tremendously with retail crimes.
“Someone trying to steal from the register line and we can't get there, it's a lower priority, no one's in danger, but with the security or asset protection like Walmart has, that really helps us a lot,” said Danny Bean with Tulsa Police.
Records show that Gabbert also has previous felony convictions, including assaulting a police officer.
