A lucky person bought a $3 million winning lottery ticket in Bartlesville this week. It was sold at the Homeland Express gas station off Washington Boulevard.

Lyricia Barnhart says she could have sold the winning ticket but says the new millionaire's identity remains a mystery.

“I've been asked like 'Do you know who the winner is, have they brought in the ticket to you'?” said Barnhart, an employee at the store.

Brian Smith is a regular at the Homeland Express Gas Station and says he and his wife try to buy lotto tickets every week, so when he heard someone had won on the radio Wednesday, he was feeling lucky.

“I immediately called my wife and I asked her I said 'Hey you buy tickets in there', she said about two weeks ago, a week ago somewhere around there, I was like ugh,” Smith said.

Customers can't believe someone could win that much money in what they think is little Bartlesville, and have never heard of something like this happening here.

“Three million could change an entire world, especially Oklahoma right now, I do believe,” Tami Byer of Bartlesville said.

But others say not so fast.

“You got the crazy taxes right up front and then if you don't have a plan with it, I can see how you can burn through it pretty fast,” said Joe Sosnowski.

While News On 6 couldn't find the winner, there were plenty of people who knew what they'd do with $3 million.

“I would buy my family a home that is not nearly a hundred years old, and I would love to buy a home for a total stranger's family,” Byer said.

“Buy a new house for sure,” Smith said.

“Mostly for my family, you know, help them, maybe move out of Bartlesville and explore a little bit,” said Barnhart.

The Homeland Express will hang a sign that says the store sold a million-dollar ticket.

As for the winner, state law only allows the release of a winner's first name, where they live and how much they won.
