A rescue was caught on camera after a man rolled his semi truck in Wagoner County last week. He and his dog were trapped inside the semi.

Lt. Billy Kammerzell says this rescue took a lot of teamwork and quick thinking.

Because of all the smoke when they got on the scene, they were worried the truck could catch on fire or explode.

Wagoner County Sheriff's Office says the smoke came from a microwave.

It's all caught on body camera footage, Wagoner County Deputies working against time to rescue a man trapped in his rolled semi.

“If we could get him out of the truck the only thing, I could think of was we get him on my unit we can get out of there as quickly as possible,” Lt. Kammerzell said.

Quick thinking led a deputy and an EMS worker to jump on top of a patrol unit and open the passenger door of the semi.

They pulled the man out of the truck and handed him off to safety to get medical care.

The rescue didn't end there, the man's dog, Peanut, was still trapped inside the semi.

Deputy Wells went back for the dog.

“He dropped his vest, his duty belt and he climbed through the windshield as best he could I think he had a couple of scratches and marks on his arm from the windshield, climbed in was able to grab the dog from the windshield,” said Lt. Kammerzell.

Lt. Kammerzell says he's proud of the team, the EMS workers, and the Whitehorn Cove Fire firefighters who all worked together to rescue the man and his dog.

“Whoever needs help is going to get the help that they need, we don't think about well how dangerous is this going to be? Like what could happen? When we are in the middle of those things we're getting that person the help that need and we're going home,” said Lt. Kammerzell.

The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office says the man driving had minor injuries, and unfortunately, when deputies got Peanut out of the truck he jumped out of the deputies' arms and ran away.

Deputies have tried looking for the dog, but haven't had any luck.
