A preliminary hearing is set for a Tulsa woman who is charged with the death of a woman, three kids under the age of five, and an unborn baby in February.

Prosecutors said Keiosha Rucker was behind the wheel and under the influence of drugs when she pulled out in front of a fire truck that had its lights and sirens running. On Sept. 24, 2024, Rucker was arraigned in Tulsa County after months of rehab and will have a preliminary hearing on Oct. 29.

This is a timeline of events around the incident.

Story Timeline:

The crash happened early on Feb. 26 when the Tulsa fire truck was responding to reports of a building fire. According to police reports, the driver of a car turned in front of a Tulsa fire truck as it was driving down 41st Street, between Harvard and Yale.

Tulsa Fire Department Public Information Officer Andy Little said the firetruck was running lights and sirens while passing through the intersection. According to Tulsa Police, that was when a white Hyundai turned south onto New Haven Ave., and the firetruck collided with the passenger vehicle.

The collision sent the car over a sidewalk and into a telephone pole. Police said that the firefighters from the truck were not injured and immediately started to render lifesaving aid to the occupants of the car.

Little said first responders reacted quickly, using extrication equipment to free the trapped occupants of the vehicle. 

There were six people in the car, three adults and three children, at the time of the crash. crash. The police also said that one of the passengers was a 26-year-old woman in her second trimester who miscarried the baby. The 4-year-old, 1-year-old, 5-year-old, and 23-year-old passenger died as a result of the crash.

On March 15, Tulsa County prosecutors filed five counts of manslaughter for the deaths of Tamia Ray, Keylani Jones, Aiziah Jones, Makiya Chatmon, and the death of the unborn child Ataja Martin.

In addition to the five counts of first-degree manslaughter, Rucker is also charged with driving under the influence of drugs and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. According to law enforcement, Rucker was driving without a license when the crash happened.

Rucker spent months in rehab before being booked into the Tulsa County Jail on Friday, Sept. 20. She was then arraigned in Tulsa County Court on Sept. 24, though she was not present. The judge set the preliminary hearing date for Oct. 29.

On Sept. 26, the judge denied the request to lower the $250,000 bond to $50,000.
