11-Year-Old Child Wounded In Late-Night Tulsa Shooting; Police Say Shots Fired Into Home

Tulsa police are investigating a late-night shooting where witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, resulting in one child being injured. Officers are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.

Tulsa police are investigating a shooting that injured a child on Thursday night.

According to police, an officer driving along Highway 169 around 10:30 p.m. and was overtaken by a speeding car. After pulling the vehicle over, the driver got out and ran toward the officer, saying someone had been shot.

Police were directed to a home near near 81st Street and South Memorial Drive on 73rd East Avenue where the shooting had taken place. While there they learned that a young gunshot victim had arrived at a hospital. Officers spoke with the victim's mother, who said they were at the house when gunfire erupted and her 11-year-old child was hit. According to police, multiple people were inside the home when someone fired several shots at the home from outside.

The mother provided officers with possible suspect information.

A witness in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a vehicle on the street near the scene. Police have not released the age of the victim, but they have confirmed the child remains hospitalized.
