The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has made 16 arrests in the first five days of the fair. Deputies say one of those arrests is related to a stabbing, and another involves a juvenile with a loaded gun.

Captain Mike Moore says two deputies jumped into action and quickly applied compression bandages to the victim's chest and back.

Tulsa County deputies say that while the vast majority of families have had a fun, safe time at the fair, deputies are always on alert. They were prepared when a call came in over the weekend about a fight in which a man had been stabbed. Deputies Chris West and John Hill immediately began helping the victim.

"He complained he couldn't breathe very well," said Hill. "At that time, I found an additional stab wound on his back and placed a chest seal on that as well."

They arrested 18-year-old Brandon Farris for assault with a deadly weapon. Captain Moore says most of those arrested during the fair are teenagers. They have recovered five knives and one loaded gun.

"They noticed a group of individuals, made an approach, and asked to look in the backpack they were carrying. In it, they found a loaded magazine and a subsequent search of the individual located a loaded firearm," said Moore.

Deputies also caught a group of kids trying to sneak drugs into the fair.

"We caught a group of kids last night who thought it would be a good idea to have their younger sibling carry a backpack that had illegal contraband in it," Moore said.

Moore says that during the day, they have at least 10 deputies patrolling, and after 3 p.m., that number increases to up to 30. On weekends, it doubles.

"Whether you're a patron out here trying to enjoy the fair or you're out here trying to cause problems, we want people to see a deputy at every single moment," said Moore.

Moore says there is no reason to bring a large backpack or oversized bag to the fair unless it's to take care of kids. Anyone who brings a bag inside could have it searched for any reason.
