The Philbrook Museum is currently featuring an extensive collection of 102 American artworks from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia. Spanning from 1776 to 1976, the exhibit provides a comprehensive look at American history through art.
The collection includes iconic pieces, such as a famous portrait of George Washington, alongside lesser-known works, including a painting by Laura Wheeling Waring, a Black woman artist whose contributions to American art are often overlooked.
Visitors will find a variety of styles and subjects, from landscapes and portraits to still-life paintings by artists such as George Bellows, John Neagle, and Georgia O'Keeffe. The exhibit offers an opportunity to explore American art's diversity and visitors are encouraged to take time to explore, learn, and discover the rich history behind the artworks.
